The Oreo Commercial

..where the kid is on a video call with his dad, for me, is one of best commercials ever made. Why? It's because its so damn ordinary, yet it managed to tell its viewers THREE strong ideas about eating Oreo:

1. Oreo is for all ages

We have seen this concept in a previous Oreo commercial (i.e. father teaching his toddler son how to eat an oreo cookie). The idea is presented again in this ad, this time father and son are eating at the same time. Oreo isn't just for kids; you are never too old for Oreo.

2. Oreo is everywhere

They are in a video call. Webcam, over the internet. Across the globe. You can find Oreo and buy a pack anywhere in the world (or at least where there's internet access.. hehe)

3. Oreo can be eaten any time of the day

"Good night, buddy"
"Good morning, dad"
Early in the morning or just before bedtime, you can eat Oreo any time of the day.

Cool, isn't it? All three of that with just six words of script. A good example of a well-thought-out advertisement.

You might say I'm being too analytical about this. I'm not (although you have to admit that the commercial IS cool hehe). I'm just fascinated at the way humans find means to persuade other humans.

Now I'm wondering if a career in advertising would have worked out for me. Hehehe.
